Meet our Acupuncturists

Dr Yu

"Judy" Yu-Michaelson, L.Ac. and O.M.D. is a Georgia-licensed Acupuncturist, certified nationally by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and in Georgia by the Georgia Composite Medical Board. She has over 20 years of experience successfully treating patients and clients on three continents.

Dr. Yu graduated as a Physician from the Traditional Chinese Medicine College of Liaoning University in Shenyang, China. After graduation, she served as a Supervising Physician at the Liaoning Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Yu completed post-doctoral studies at the Liaoning International Training Center of Traditional Therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where she was further certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Medical Massage. In 1994 Dr. Yu received the prestigious Certificate of Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease from the First Chinese Medical University, also in Shenyang.

Dr. Yu has experience working with a wide variety of health issues, concerns, complaints, diseases, and illnesses, from the simple to complex, as well as those of recent occurrence to those that are more longstanding. She has also worked with clients of all ages.

Dr. Yu has published many papers on the treatment of various diseases and conditions with the use of Acupuncture. Three noteworthy papers include "Fertility Treatment with Acupuncture and Herbs," "Treatment of Coronary Heart Disease," and "Perspective on Acute Suppurative Infection Mechanisms."

Dr. Yu is widely known in the community as a very caring, knowledgeable, sociable and professional healer.

Dr. Lin

Yiming Lin, L.Ac. is a Georgia-licensed Acupuncturist, certified nationally by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and in Georgia by the Georgia Composite Medical Board. He has over 10 years of acupuncture experience successfully treating patients and clients using Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage), Acupressure, Gua Sha (Chinese Medical Massage Therapies) and Chinese Herbs.  

Dr. Lin has vast clinical and research knowledge in Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, integrative medicine, nutrition, and research science gained through over 29 years of education and work experience in China and the United States. He holds a PhD in Integrative Medicine from Shanghai Second Medical University (3 years’ training), a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Moxibustion from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (3 years’ training in the department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion) and is trained as an Acupuncturist and Chinese Medical Doctor (Bachelor degree) at Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (5 years’ training in the department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion). These degrees represent 11 years of formal education.

Dr. Lin, born and raised in China, immigrated to the United States in 2001 to pursue a career focused on research opportunities at Emory University and Morehouse School of Medicine. He is credited on over 20 published research articles in a variety of reputable journals. While he has achieved success in his research career, he has always enjoyed the direct interaction with patients.

Dr.Lin works regularly with patients treating a wide variety of conditions. Patients often remark on his easy-going and friendly nature which puts people at ease and makes treatments enjoyable and relaxing, not to mention effective!

Dr. Paula Burgess MD, MPH is credentialed as an acupuncturist by the Georgia Composite Medical Board. She has been a licensed physician in Georgia for more than 30 years and has been graced with the opportunity to have made a positive impact on many lives.        


Dr. Burgess received her MD degree from Emory University School of Medicine and earned Board Certification in Emergency Medicine.  She worked in emergency medicine for 20 years, both as a practitioner and as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department of several hospitals, before deciding to shift her career to the practice of public health. She then successfully obtained her Masters in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and later went to work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
At the CDC, Dr. Burgess has worked as a senior scientist in the areas of emergency preparedness and response, toxicology, epidemiology, environmental health, injury control and prevention, and global health. She has authored or co-authored a number of papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals. Her expertise has allowed her to understand the positive influence of a holistic approach to all aspects of health and public health.


Dr. Burgess received her certification in acupuncture after completing the intensive Medical Acupuncture for Physicians course taught by the prestigious Helms Medical Institute of UCLA. She understands the value of acupuncture as an important complement to the traditional Western approach to medicine.  Dr. Burgess is skillful at explaining acupuncture in terms understandable to those more familiar with Western medicine. Dr. Burgess’s therapeutic approach, whether gentle or more intensive, is individualized to each client for maximal benefit.
