Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How are the needles sterilized between patients?

A. Each needle arrives sterilized and pre-wrapped to our office. The needles are single-use and disposable and are never used more than once.

Q. Is there any preparation I need to do before an acupuncture session?

A. If possible, please drink only clear liquids on the day of treatment. Do not skip meals before a treatment. Try to avoid activities that may over-tire your body on the day of treatment.
These are just suggestions and are not required for beneficial results.

Q. Do i need to undress to receive an acupuncture treatment?

A. In our community acupuncture space, you will remain fully clothed (except shoes). We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing so that the acupuncturist has access to place needles.

Q. What if I decide to come as a Walk-in and am not wearing loose-fitting clothes, will I still be able to receive a treatment?

A. We provide clean scrubs tops and shorts as needed for treatments.

Q. Does acupuncture hurt?

A. Although needles are used in the acupuncture treatment, the needles are very fine. in most cases, you may feel a small prick but most people do not experience this as painful. Occasionally, an area may be more sensitive and you may experience a sensation similar to a mosquito bite.

Q. How long is an acupuncture treatment?

A. We suggest you allow an hour for an acupuncture treatment. There is no set time and the duration varies with each individual. Most sessions last 45-50 minutes.

Q. How does the acupuncturist know what to address in the session?

A. The acupuncturist will spend a few minutes at the beginning of the session conferring with you to determine your needs for the day. The acupuncturist will also assess your body for any imbalances through your pulse or by viewing your tongue.

Q. Do I need an appointment for acupuncture?

A. We offer appointments and also welcome Walk-ins. There are four treatment tables in our community acupuncture space. Two of the tables are always available for Walk-ins, the other two may be scheduled by appointment.

Q. How do I schedule an appointment?

A. Schedule online up to one-day in advance. Same day appointments are not accepted, although Walk-ins are always welcome.

Q. What forms of payment are accepted?

A. We accept cash or check. If you do not carry cash or checks, we are happy to receive payments in advance through your bank or credit union's bill-pay service.
